Celebrating with the
GLOUCESTER EXCELSIOR BAND

Gloucester Excelsior Band

On the afternoon of Sunday 4th June 2000 (my birthday) I went to see the GLOUCESTER EXCELSIOR BAND who were playing in the Imperial Gardens in Cheltenham.

Amongst the tunes they played were BEAUTY & THE BEAST, BORN FREE which was originally a hit for Matt Monroe, ETERNAL FLAME originally by The Bangles, UNCHAINED MELODY a big hit twice over for The Righteous Brothers, and a tune I knew but could not place at first, which was MANHATTAN SKYLINE from Saturday Night Fever (which, if you have a soundcard and speakers, is the track that you can hear playing in the background).

I really enjoyed the performance and was amazed when they packed up as I thought they had not been playing for that length of time (approximately two hours).
